BIOL 201 Cell Biology and Metabolism(McGill, 3 credits)

Overview

Biology, the science of living things, is an extremely broad field. Although this course covers diverse topics, there are two threads that run through them all. The first is the fundamental chemical and cellular basis of all living things, with a focus on structure, function, and emergent properties. The second is made up of the unifying principles of inheritance and evolution. This course is intended to provide a general introduction to the science student with little or no background in biology.

Restriction: Students with Cegep Biology 301 or equivalent may not take this course for credit. Students entering BIOL programs without Cegep Biology 301 or equivalent must take this course, but not for program credit.

• Nazem: He is currently a PhD candidate in Structural Engineering at Université de Sherbrooke, holding a Master’s degree in the same subject and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. He has extensive experience teaching Math and Physics, as well as a wide range of engineering courses including Statics, Mechanics of Materials, and Structural Analysis. His high-quality teaching makes him a great asset to our team at Hit the Books!
• Neda: She is currently a PhD Candidate in Immunology at McGill University. Holding a Master's Degree in Biology from NUS and Cambridge University, she is one of the most valuable assets in our team at "Hit the Books". She loves sharing her knowledge of biology, [genetics, biochemistry, physiology] and pharmacology! Her enthusiastic approach to teaching helps students remember difficult facts and thoroughly understand their course material.
• Nabil: He is currently a PhD Candidate in Microbiology and Immunology at Université de Montréal and holds a Master’s in the same field, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Concordia. He is highly experienced in tutoring a wide range of biology and biochemistry courses. He is knowledgeable and approachable, excellent at explaining complex topics, and we are happy to have him on our team at Hit the Books!
